Quasi-Linear Parameter Varying Modeling and Control of an Electromechanical Clutch Actuator

The paper presents the modeling and control design of an electromechanical heavy-duty clutch actuator using gain-scheduled MPC grid-based Linear Parameter Varying approaches. First, nonlinear model is presented, then a third order quasi-Linear representation system derived, which takes characteristic diaphragm spring into account. Using control-oriented model, controller Model Predictive Controller are designed, latter serves as benchmark. controllers have been implemented tested in loop environment, where their performances compared concerning rise-time, steady-state error, over-and undershoots, robustness to changes touch-point. validation results show that difference between predictive negligible most cases, they surpass linear parameter varying regarding rise-time. On other hand, approach has proven be much more robust load force touch-point while also performing better under- overshoots. Therefore, it suitable achieve position actuator.
